The Sunray Signature is our flagship fast-action fly rod, engineered around Toray's T1100G carbon fibre — the same third-generation, high-modulus fibre found in Japan's most advanced lure and game rods. T1100G combines a tensile strength exceeding 6,000 MPa with a modulus above 300 GPa, letting the blank wall run roughly 30% thinner than conventional high-modulus carbon for the same strength. The result is a lighter, more responsive blank with faster recovery and dramatically reduced swing weight in hand.

I've been fly fishing 49 years, through fibreglass, the first carbon rods, and the ultra-fast blanks of the early '90s. I reacted against those, went softer and more progressive — lovely to cast, but they demand more thought to control the tip.
Ten years ago we built the Volition. I've brought that original blank back, reintroduced it with the new Japanese fibres, and tightened the midsection slightly. The result takes no thought to cast — anybody can pick it up — yet it generates the speed those old '90s rods promised. It's the feel of an ultra-light, modern progressive action: the high-end sports car version of what the '90s were reaching for.
