The Sunray System

I have purchased a number of items from Sunray - multiple lines, reels, leaders etc and all have been top quality.

The Microlite GT is another exceptional product from Sunray and I am over the moon with the quality, the feel, the presentation and the action of the rod.

I utilise the whole Sunray system i.e products that have been designed to be used in tandom to create a complete package.

3wt Microlite GT, 3wt short to medium distance micro thin line, line slick - can't beat it. This combination has performed on small rivers, small stillwaters and even bank fishing at Bewl water. My Vision, LOOP & Wychwood rods are now confined to the back of the shed.

Thanks for the great review....delighted to hear you're enjoying your Sunray gear.

Micro light 4#

I agree, I have not lost a fish since buying my micro 4 #. I like how it will bend through to the handle. Every fish feels like 5lb. I have 13 fly rods, and have not used any of them since I got the micro light in 2 years

Now that's what we like to hear Mick.

Great Rods

I have 3 microlite rods. 2#,4#,and 5#. They are all brilliant and, along with the masterclass lessons, have helped me become one of the best casters in my club. Also the service from Sunray is great ! I carelessly broke a section recently and Cheryl managed to find me a replacement. Many thanks again.
Trevor

That's great to hear Trevor. You've got quite the collection now. Sounds like the Masterclass tutorials have helped too. Thanks from all at Sunray HQ.

Micro lite, macro fun

Lovely progressive action with great build quality and components. Delivers casts softly and accurately - very effective on spooky trout in clear water. Oh and 5 pieces make it easy to transport. Overall Sunray magic!

We're very happy to hear this Stuart. The Microlite GT is a delight isn't it. Thanks for taking the time to review it for us, from all at Sunray HQ.

Point and shoot

I bought the 10’4wt 5 pc rod and reel combo late last summer with the intention of bringing it w me on a trip to fish the US western waters of the Grand Teton National Park. I fished small streams, lakes and the mighty Snake River. Never have I utilized such a responsive rod. Coupled w the SC micro thin line w overhang marker this was a dream to use. I had to back down on the power that I put into my cast and when I did, the rod literally did all the work. It was like point the rod and shoot the line. Fantastic products all the way around.

Absolutely delighted to read this review John. You've put a smile on the faces of the Team here at Sunray HQ.

Microlite GT Fly Rod

#0 - solid carbon tip. World's lightest nymph rod. #2-#5 - Rivers / small stillwaters dry fly and nymphs rod. Extremely thin, sensitive blank. Straight line nymphing or controlled long mends and delicate dry fly rod. Power to handle big fish.

Lovely progressive action with great build quality and components. Delivers casts softly and accurately - very effective on spooky trout in clear water. Oh and 5 pieces make it easy to transport.

The ultimate light line rod. River dries, nymphing and stillwater delicate fishing.

Rod action

Tip action with an ultra slim blank that bends when required. Will play small and large fish equally well without snapping the tippet. Delicate presentations with fast recovery, but tonnes of feeling. The rod feels so light you can't believe it will handle bigger flies and bigger fish but it does. A true light line classic action.

Features

Fuji Torzite titanium rod guides. AAA cork handle. Airmesh rod sock. Carbon rod tube.

Don't take our word for it. Ask Fuji.

30% lighter guides

TORZITE®: TORZITE is Fuji's answer to the ultimate ceramic ring. This new material is smoother and tougher than SiC, with better fracture resistance, higher polish and enough strength to reach SiC performance levels in a narrower ring that is up to 30% lighter than SiC.

Airmesh. Breathable rod sock.

Protect your investment

Hexagonal perforated breathable mesh rod sock. Allows the rod to dry when you put it back in the tube. A wet rod can develop mould. Airmesh protects your prize rod.

Why is it ok for competition casters but not us?

Reduced friction with sports mode

A well known trick in the competiton casting scene is turning your stripping guides 45 degrees off centre. We've given you alignment guides to do just that. Stops the wet fly line touching the wet rod during the back cast. Redcued line stick, further distance.

So what is Torzite® exactly?

Not lost a fish since buying my 4#. I like how it bends through to the handle. Every fish feels like 5lb.

Designing the Microlite GT Fly Rod

"I knew a fly rod with a solid carbon tip would work"

When we built the #0 we knew a solid carbon tip would create a World's first. 4 of the sections use push over joints and the tip section uses a push in joint. That meant I could get the diameter change from section to section correct. The taper from butt to tip is very shallow. This makes an extraordinarily sensitive rod.

The trend towards stiff 'fast action' rods started in the late 80's and hasn't stopped. Sunray have been repairing that trend since 2014.

Our fly rods absorb the shock of fighting fish.

A fly rod's primary function is shock absorption. Absorbing the head shakes and sudden runs of a fish means you can fish lighter tippets. Fishing lighter tippets means you can present smaller flies which represent the naturals more accurately.

You're in good hands. We've been shipping rods around the World for the last 15 years.

It's as good as buying a rod from a shop.

I ordered on Friday and it arrived on Saturday morning, amazing.
It took 7 days for the rod to reach me from the UK. It was faster than rods I've bought here in the States!
I couldn't believe how quick it was delieverd. It felt like I had just placed the order and it was there! All the way from the UK in a matter of days.

What people say

Lovely progressive action with great build quality and components. Delivers casts softly and accurately - very effective on spooky trout in clear water. Oh and 5 pieces make it easy to transport.

Best Pike Rod I've Ever Used. The action was perfect to cast medium sized flies with very little back casting space.

I now have 2 10ft 7 weights, I use them for nymphing from the bank at Farmoor, I set up one straight line the other a washing line, even with brutal takes my tippet doesn’t get smashed, lovely rods.
