Our goal was to make a fly rod that presented a micro thin fly line and fly like a tenkara rod.

The 6 piece Zero is built on new machines that are able to calculate carbon to fine tolerances. We are able to reduce the diameter of our blanks by 22%. That means, for the first time, a true #0 rod over 9' is possible. The tip sections are 'put in' ferrules (from quiver tip technology) which allows us to start with a thinner butt section creating an extremely thin balanced blank.

      • Weight : 10'6" - 80.4g
      • Weight : 11'6" - 81.4g
      • Med fast matt finish blank
      • Sunray strippers and snakes
      • Matt anodised aluminium reel seat with sliding bands
      • Alignment lines
      • Solid carbon tips
      Lines

If you mostly fish dry fly, then use the Jeremy Lucas Dry Fly #0. You can also French leader, short / long range dry fly and Czech nymph with it.

If you mostly nymph then use the World Nymph. Designed for World competitors, it's a micro thin, coated level line that gives the most direct path to your sub surface flies.

      Leaders

If you mostly fish dry fly, then use Straight 'n' Soft tapered leaders. They are the only leaders on the market that don't coil. They aren't shiny and they lay dead straight. They are a dull matt grey colour at the butt section and clear at the front.

      Typical dry fly setup
If you mostly nymph then use Hybrid. Designed for World competitors, it's fluorocarbon coated mono that doesn't get weaker when wet. Wet knot strength is the variable competitors look for.

      Customer's experience

      D. Southall Yorkshire UK

       - My first tests were on my local small still water, a U shaped canal-like water with a distinct flow & very well educated, challenging rainbows. In four short sessions targeting visible cruising fish I caught over 30 rainbows up to 3lb. Most fell for a size 18 Black Gnat, but some took a size 24 Buzzer Pupa or a size 30 CdC Midge, generally on 0.09mm tippet. The rod bent down to the handle & soaked up the surging runs & head shaking; furthermore it subdued the fish relatively quickly despite the fine tippet. This rod will handle sizeable fish! At 10’ 6” it cast superbly with a Jeremy Lucas Dry Fly & 11’ leader/tippet. It also performed well with a French Leader. At 10’ 6” in calm conditions I was amazed at how far I could cast a 2.5 weight (Japanese scale which is 0.26mm/0.010” diameter/1x/10lb breaking strain) fluorocarbon level Tenkara line (over 20’ of line plus 3’ of tippet beyond the rod tip), accurately targeting cruising rainbows.

My first trial on a river was on a desperately low & clear Yorkshire Derwent in bright sun with a tricky downstream breeze. I fished the rod at 10’ 6” with a 0.55mm diameter micro nymph line & 11’ leader/tippet with a size 20 Black Gnat or a size 20 CdC IOBO Humpy as there were clouds of Dance Flies & the few risers were taking them. The rod performed flawlessly providing accurate casting & super delicate presentation, which resulted in 14 wild brown trout being landed. Later I used the same setup to fish a size 24 CdC Midge to some very fussy fish feeding on Aphids in the slow, smooth sections on one of West Yorkshire’s industrial rivers resulting in 17 wild brown trout up to 14” being landed. Once again presentation & accuracy were superb & I could repeatedly cover the rising fish, without spooking them, until they finally took my offering.

I was so skeptical about ordering this rod!

I ordered both the Zero and the # 2 rods.
I truly thought that I had made a big mistake!
Well let me now assure you all that I have fished this Zero rod for over two weeks straight experiencing nothing but pure joy with every cast and catch!
I have both shoulders operated on and casting is usually not easy. It is with this rod!
I am fishing longer and casting further with less effort than ever before!!
So far my personal best with this rod is a beautiful 20 1/2 rainbow trout. I never felt that I so out of control while fighting her!

      tenkara meets reel

Wow , bought the zero due to wanting a bit more reach and it didn't let down , if your into superlite tackle I don't think you can beat this setup, have used in traditional western setup and also ended up using tenkara style keeping the line off the water, (its so light that muscle memory thinks its a tenkara rod and not that Toms lines need to be kept off the water), excellent kit and most importantly caught on my 1st outing !

      Game changer!

This is as close to perfection for the type of waters I fish as possible. A Zero rod, micro thin nymph line, 6X tippet and plume tip. Guys it just doesn’t get any better!
