Deep flexing 6 piece #7 double hand rod for worldwide fisheries. Used by full time guides in Norway, Argentina & Scotland.
The goal was to make the ultimate outfit for the Rio Gallegos in Argentina
The guides all prefer rods that bend. The difficulty for a rod that bends is wind. The Rio Gallegos is one of the windiest fisheries in the World. We reduced friction in the guides by using our K series strippers and air resistance around the blank by making it slimmer. In combination with our Scandi low diameter heads and Mono running line we benefit in beating the wind but also how delicate the lines land. And because it's a soft rod, you can user lighter tippets. The perfect sea trout tool.

Leaders
Use Straight 'n' Soft tapered leaders. They are the only leaders on the market that don't coil. They aren't shiny and they lay dead straight. They are a dull matt grey colour at the butt section and clear at the front.
Rio Gallegos setup
Onto the end of the tapered leader tie;
Flies
Strip
1 pause 1,2 pause 1,2,3 pause strip strike
Use Hybrid for tippet. It's fluorocarbon coated nylon that doesn't get weaker when wet. Wet knot strength is the variable competitors look for. It's very easy to tie unlike fluorocarbon which is what you need when the wind is blowing you off your feet.

- The attention to detail that is Tom's signature and the six piece configuration makes it brilliant for smuggling into the house or for its design concept, world travel. The itch to try it overcame the stupidity of going to the river in flood and a below freezing temperature. I threw RioScandi and Skagit, OPST Ultra Short Skagit and Airflo Rage Compacts with line weights from 360 grains to 585 grains. The rod was a delight to cast all through that amazingly wide grain window. I have never come across a rod so versatile. (For you gram boys and girls ; (1gm=15.42 grains.)
However, the icing on the cake was the three Gallegos lines that Tom sent for me to try. Like the rod the lines had been really well thought out. They took the Single Spey, Spiral Spey, Snap T and Poke casts in their stride and that stride was into a different Postcode with a delicate presentation at the end. An amazing combination of rod and line that perform as well as rods twice the price but with a nicer action and a better grain window.
Fly Rod Warranty
This guarantee is limited to the Original Purchaser and is not transferable to future owners. If during 3 years of the original purchaser, the rod should break or fail, for whatever reason, simply return the rod, invoice, sales receipt, or proof of purchase and we will replace the rod or damaged/faulty part by return.
If within the first 36 months from the date of purchase the failure is due to a manufacturing fault or material defect, then our normal manufacturer’s guarantee will apply and the rod or part will be replaced free of charge, with the relevant handling/postage fee returned. Fees will apply if the failure was due to user error.
Should the rod in question be discontinued it will normally be replaced with a new model up to a similar value, or there is the option to ‘trade up’ to a rod of a higher value, by paying the handling/postage fee, plus the difference in value between the two models. Please note however, that in the case of discontinued models, if purchased in a clearance sale, the maximum value covered by this guarantee is the price paid and not the original RRP.

I purchased this rod with an atom reel and a competition float line which I treated with lineslik. I am not all that skilled with double handed rods though I have been using them for 3 or 4 years. The line, which is rather thin, lifts off the water very easily. Which means I blew a lot of anchors at first, but I have grown into this rod and it gets better every time I use it. The rod is light in the hand but still has plenty of power and good line control. Overhead casts are great, where space allows. Snap T casts very nicely too and also roll casts nicely. That pretty much covers my limited repertoire of spey casts and this rod handles everything I ask of it very well and i love it more every time i take it to the river.
Nice deep curved scandi-action for small to medium size rivers.
Fished it with a Short VersiTip #7, perfect combo!
Bought this on offer primarily for low water conditions on my local spate river and it delivers exactly as expected. Light and progressive and matches perfectly with Tom's scandi shooting head line. The line allows delicate presentation and shoots smoothly. Brilliant outfit all round, well pleased.
Used it for the first time properly on the lune in very windy conditions and fast flowing water. Everyone loved the rod weight and ballance but said you wont reach the far bank in this wind ..... Luckily I had watched Toms video on casting the volition the night before and after about 10 minutes I had to watch I didnt het caught up on the far bank. Love this rod.
I needed another twelve six seven weight like a hole in the head but Tom's Black Friday offer was too much to resist. Boy, I'm pleased I caved in. It's a great rod to look at due to the attention to detail that is Tom's signature and the six piece configuration makes it brilliant for smuggling into the house or for its design concept, world travel.
